Everything you need to know — clear and simple

Based in Cork. Ireland‑wide by post. Friendly, careful, and fair‑priced. If you don’t see your question below, just ping us on WhatsApp.

General

We digitise video tapes, photos/slides/negatives, audio, and phone/storage media — to USB, DVD or a private link.

What formats do you handle?

Video: VHS (PAL & NTSC), VHS‑C (adapter), MiniDV, Video8 / Hi8 / Digital8, 8mm camcorder. Betamax on request (queue may apply). No MicroMV.

Cine: Super 8 / 8mm in real time (sound‑on‑film +€10 per reel).

Storage: SD/microSD, USB sticks, external drives, some camera cards; phones & tablets (see Phones & Storage).

Where are you based? Do you serve all of Ireland?

We’re in Cork city for appointment‑only drop‑offs. Most orders arrive by post from anywhere in Ireland. We’ll guide you on safe packing.

Who does the work?

Everything is done in‑house by one person. Nothing is outsourced. Your items stay together and come back exactly as they arrived.

Video Tapes

Crystal‑clear transfers with careful deinterlacing when needed.

What do I get back for a VHS or camcorder tape?

Your original tape plus your chosen digital format: USB, DVD, or private link. For video we can supply 576i (MPEG) or a de‑interlaced file at 720p/50fps (popular choice).

Do you handle American NTSC tapes?

Yes — NTSC (US/Canada/Japan) is supported. There’s a +€10 per tape surcharge for the extra hardware required.

My tape is very long / in LP or EP — does it cost extra?

Base price covers up to 2 hours. Longer tapes (typically 2–4 hours) have a +€10 surcharge. We’ll flag any unusual cases upfront.

Can you fix shaky picture, colours, or hiss?

Basic clean‑up is included. Advanced work (colour correction, flicker reduction, audio clean) is available from €15–€50 depending on what’s needed.

Photos, Slides & Negatives

Careful scanning with optional colour‑enhanced versions.

What do you scan?

Loose prints, album pages (handled gently), 35mm slides, medium format slides, and common negative strips. We’ll advise on unusual sizes.

JPEG or TIFF?

JPEG is standard for easy sharing. TIFF available on request at +€0.30/photo (ideal for editing and archiving). Bulk discounts apply.

Can I get the original look and a colour‑enhanced version?

Yes. If you want both, we’ll scan accordingly and deliver two folders (Original and Enhanced). Deciding this up front saves rescans later.

Do you repair or restore photos?

Yes. Moderate restoration from €20–€40; severe restoration (e.g. faces) typically €80–€150. We’ll quote before work.

Audio

From cassettes to MiniDiscs — cleaned, level‑checked, and named sensibly.

What audio formats do you support?

Cassette, dictaphone/microcassette, MiniDisc (from €15), DAT, reel‑to‑reel (select speeds), and vinyl. Track splitting, naming, and metadata tagging available as extras.

Can you clean up noisy audio?

Yes — hiss reduction, hum removal, and gentle EQ from €20–€50 per track, depending on condition and length.

Phones & Storage

Photos and videos off older phones, SD cards, USBs and hard drives.

What can you extract?

Photos and videos only (no texts/WhatsApp messages). iPhones must be unlocked and not iCloud‑only. Deleted file recovery is sometimes possible for undamaged media.

Can you rotate and merge clips?

Yes — we can rotate, merge, and tidy filenames/folders so everything’s easy to find. Small tidy‑ups are often included; larger edits are quoted.

Delivery Formats

  • Private link — temporary download link is free; permanent link options: SD €5 or HD €15 up to 2 hrs (+€10 per extra hour).

How do I pay?

Bank transfer (after completion), Revolut, PayPal, or cash. A small deposit may be required for very large jobs or special equipment.

Do you accept postal orders?

Yes — most orders arrive by post. We’ll send safe packing tips. Return post via Registered Post is typically €5–€12 (sender assumes transit risk).

Can I drop off in person?

Do you collect?

We don’t offer a collection service, but we’ll help you arrange An Post or a courier drop if needed.

Quality, Repairs & Safety

Are tapes checked and cleaned?

Can you repair broken tapes?

Usually, yes — splicing and minor repairs are free. Severe damage will be quoted before work.

Can you preview tapes?

We can preview on request and tell you what’s on them. There’s no fee unless it’s a very large batch.

Turnaround

How long will it take?

Most jobs finish within 5–10 working days depending on quantity and condition. Rush options are sometimes possible — just ask.
